Prof. DA Sinclair (from Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA) has published a paper in the Journal Cell stating that “Declining NAD+ Induces a Pseudohypoxic State Disrupting Nuclear-Mitochondrial Communication during Aging.”  This study suggests that declining NAD+ levels accelarates ageing, while increasing NAD+ levels reverses ageing. In connection with this finding, Dr L Boominathan, Director-cum-chief scientist of GBMD, reports thatReversing ageing (Is p63 the answer?): p63 inhibits the decline in mitochondrial function with age via induction of its target gene This finding suggests that p63 increases NAD+ levels via up regulation of its target gene. This exciting finding opens up a new therapeutic opportunity to reverse ageing by modulating p63 levels.
