GBMD Founder Director-cum-Chief-Scientist Dr L Boominathan PhD reports that tumor suppressor TA-P73 activates autophagy and extends lifespan by inducing its target gene ATG5. Furthermore, Dr Boominathan identifies the mechanism through which TA-P73 extends life span, increases leanness/insulin sensitivity, improves motor function, and decreases ageing. Together, this study suggests that “p73 pathway regulators” may delay ageing and extend the life span of an individual.
Based on these promising findings, Dr L Boominathan strongly believes that p73 acts as the “ Life span extender“. Releasing this exciting finding on the day the Nobel prize winners of Physiology or Medicine are announced (7/October/2013), Dr L Boominathan wonders whether this could be a great gift to the Nobel prize winners.
