  • A study from the Department of Medical Oncology, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, USA; Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT, Cambridge, MA, USA. Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research, Cambridge, MA, USA, has reported the role of Kras and YAP1 in the regulation of  epithelial to mesenchymal transition and tumor survival.
  • This study was published in the 17 June 2014 Cell  by Prof. William C. Hahn, Jacks T, Shao and others from the Department of Medical Oncology, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, USA; Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT, Cambridge, MA, USA.
  • On the foundation of this interesting finding, Dr L Boominathan, Director-cum-chief Scientist of GBMD, reports here that: Natural product-based therapy for Lung Cancer: Celastrol, an antioxidant & anti-inflammatory drug from the herb Thunder of God vine, suppresses Kras-driven lung cancer via down regulation of its target gene. This study suggests that Celastrol, by decreasing the expression of its target gene, it inhibits Kras-driven lung cancer progression. Together, this study suggests that pharmacological formulations containing “Celestrol or Celastrol analogues” may be used to inhibit the progression of  Kras-driven human lung cancer
