A study from the Section on Integrative Physiology-Metabolism, Joslin Diabetes Center, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts, USA.  has reported that “Altered miRNA processing disrupts brown/white adipocyte determination and associates with lipodystrophy.

This study was published in the June 1, 2014 Journal of Clinical Investigation (JCI) [I.F >15] by Prof. C. Ronald Kahn, Mori AM and others from the Integrative Physiology-Metabolism, Joslin Diabetes Center, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts, USA “

On the foundation of this interesting finding, Dr L Boominathan, Director-cum-chief Scientist of GBMD, reports here that: Therapeutic insights  into the regulation of brown/white adipocyte determination: Tumor suppressor Menin (MEN1) promotes  lipodystrophy via down regulation of its target gene. Together, this study suggests that pharmacological formulations encompassing “MEN1 regulators”  can be used in the treatment of lipodystrophy and insulin resistance.
