Significance:  This study suggests, for the first time, that  α-Tocopherol , by decreasing the expression of its target gene, it may decrease the expression of a number of stress responsive proteins. Thereby, it may increase the expression of an activator of insulin transcription, NeuroD1.  Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing α-Tocopherol  or its analogues may  be used to treat DM.
