A recent study from the Department of Microbiology and Immunobiology, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts; Department of Pediatrics, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas, USA; and Institute for Biomedical Research, University College London, London, UK shows that “Nociceptive sensory neurons drive interleukin-23-mediated psoriasiform skin inflammation.” This study was published in the Apr 23 2014 Nature by Prof Ulrich H. von Andrian, Lorena Riol-Blanco, and others.
On the foundation of this interesting finding, Dr L Boominathan PhD, Director-cum-chief Scientist of GBMD, reports that: MiRNA-based therapy for Psoriasis: MiRNA-145 aggravates psoriasiform skin inflammation via down regulation of its target gene. This study suggests that MiRNA-145, by decreasing the expression of its target gene, it may increase the interleukin-23-mediated psoriasiform skin inflammation. Together, this study suggests that pharmacological formulations encompassing “Anti-MiRNA-145 or MiRNA-145 suppressors” may be used to treat psoriasiform skin inflammation.
