Significance: This study has elucidated the mechanism by Stress-induced MiRNA-520c inhibits memory consolidation. MIRNA-520c, by suppressing the expression of its target gene, it could decrease the expression of memory genes such as LIMK and CREB1. This result suggests that, by suppressing the expression of miR-128, one could increase the expression of memory consolidation genes. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “MIRNA-520c inhibitors” can be used to treat patients suffering from dementias.
