A study from the Department of Molecular Biology, Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey 08544, USA shows that ΔNp63 promotes stem cell activity in mammary gland development and basal-like breast cancer by enhancing Fzd7 expression and Wnt signalling.”

This study was published in the September issue of 2014 Nature Cell Biology (I.F: 20.085) by Dr. Kang Y, Rumela Chakrabarti  [I.F > 20.058] and others from the Princeton University, New Jersey 08544, USA

On the foundation of this interesting finding, Dr L Boominathan, Director-cum-chief Scientist of GBMDreports here that: Anti-cancer stem cell  therapeutics: Tumor suppressor ING1b inhibits mammary cancer stem cell proliferation via down regulation of Wnt receptor FZD7 This study may suggest that ING1b, by up regulating its target gene, it may inhibit the Wnt pathway. Together, this study suggests that pharmacological formulations encompassing ING1b  or its activators” can be used to inhibit mammary tumor initiating cells.
