Significance: This study suggests that tumor suppressor MiRNA-29, by decreasing the expression of its target gene, it may increase the expression of guardian of the genome p53and decrease the expression of immortality gene telomeraseGiven that p53 is the most mutated tumor suppressor gene in human cancer, pharmacological formulations encompassing “MiRNA-29 or its activators may be used to eliminate CML leukemia stem cells.
