Significance: This study suggests that Calcitriolby increasing the expression of its target gene, it may increase the expression of Epithelium-protective factorsand decrease the expression of stress-induced genes. Thereby, it may protect against acute intestinal inflammation. Together, pharmacological formulations encompassing “Calcitriol or its analogues” may be used to treat acute intestinal inflammation or ulcer.
