Significance: NRF2, by up regulating the expression of its target gene, it may promote miRNA biogenesis. Thereby, it may inhibit cancer development. Together, this study suggests, for the first time, that (1) NRF2 may augment the production of small RNAs; and (2) pharmacological formulations encompassing “NRF2 activators” may inhibit cancer development by turning on the expression of tumor suppressor miRNAs.
