Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that BMP4, by decreasing the expression of its target gene, it may increase the expression of HEPN1. Thereby, it may inhibit the progression of Hepatocellular carcinoma. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “BMP4 activators”  can be used to treat Hepatocellular carcinoma.
