Significance: This study suggests that p63 and p73, by increasing the expression of their target genes, they may decrease the expression of Mcl-1 and increase the expression of proapoptotic protein BIM. Thereby, they may inhibit the progression of drug resistant cancer cells. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “TA-p63/p73 activator”  can be used to inhibit the progression of human tumors, including Melanoma.
