Significance: This study provides therapeutic insights into how one can increase the life span. Gaseous molecule Nitric oxide, by down regulating the expression of its target gene, it may suppress the expression of ADCY5/AC5.  Thereby, it may extend the lifespan of an individual.

It has recently been shown that sunlight boosts the production of Nitric oxide, suggesting that exposing one to the optimal level of sunlight may increase longevityTogether, this study suggests, for the first time, that (1) pharmacological formulations encompassing “Nitric oxide  activators” may increase the life expectancy of individuals; and (2)  Nitric oxide  activators may function as longevity promoters.

Undisclosed information: How Nitric oxide suppresses the expression of  adenylate cyclase 5 (ADCY5)
