Significance: 

This suggests, for the first time, that Phloretin, by increasing the expression of its target gene ABCA1, it may increase the level of High-Density lipoproteins.  Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing Phloretin or its analogues may be used to treat disorders associated with lipid metabolism.
