Significance: The study presented here suggests that MiRNA-3686, by decreasing the expression of its target genes, it may decrease the expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9. Thereby, it may inhibit migration and invasion of metastatic cancer cells. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “MiRNA-3686 activators” may be used to inhibit the progression of invasive tumors.
