Interleukin-based Lifespan extension therapy: IL-17 increases life span via up-regulation of its target gene BubR1, 7/November/2016, 10.34 pm

Natural product-based PD-1 pathway blockade for Human cancer therapy: Grifolin, a natural product from the mushroom Albatrellus confluene, inhibits the expression of co-inhibitory receptor PD-1 on Antigen- Specific T-cells, increases the production of cytokines by tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL), and draining lymph nodes and augments anti-tumor activity via down-regulation of its target gene, 7/November/2016, 10.30 pm

 What they say: Introduction:

A recent study from the Department of Genetics, Paul F. Glenn Laboratories for the Biological Mechanisms of Aging Harvard Medical School, Boston,USA; and Department of Pharmacology, School of Medicine, The University of New South Wales, Australia shows that Sirtuin-2 induces the checkpoint kinase BubR1 to increase lifespan. This study was published in the 1 July  2014 issue of the journal  “EMBO” by Prof Sinclair, North BJ, and others.

What we say:

On the foundation of this interesting finding, Dr L Boominathan PhD, Director-cum-chief Scientist of GBMD, reports that:  Interleukin-based Lifespan extension therapy: IL-17 increases life span via up-regulation of its target gene BubR1

From Research Findings to Therapeutic Opportunity:

This study suggests an interleukin-based life extension therapy. IL-17, by increasing the expression of its target gene, it may increase the expression of BuBR1. Thereby, it may: (1) delay diseases of aging; (2) slow down aging; and (3) prolong median life span. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing“IL-17  or its activators may be used to extend the lifespan of an individual.
