This study suggests, for the first time, that Lithocholic acid (LCA), by increasing the expression of its target gene, it may: (1) enhance autophagy, (2) promote leanness; (3) increase insulin sensitivity; (4) improve motor function; (5) increase resistance to oxidative stress; (6) alleviate ageing features; and (7) promote longevity( fig.1).
Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “Lithocholic acid (LCA) or its analogues or Lithocholic acid plus any of the known anti-ageing compounds” may be used to increase the life span of an individual.
