This study suggests, for the first time, that Ginsenoside 20(S)-Rg3, by increasing the expression of its target gene, it may: (1) enhance autophagy, (2) promote leanness; (3) increase insulin sensitivity; (4) improve motor function; (5) increase resistance to oxidative stress; (6) alleviate ageing features; and (7) promote longevity( fig.1 &2).
Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “Ginsenoside 20(S)-Rg3 or its analogues or Ginsenoside 20(S)-Rg3 plus any of the known anti-ageing compounds” may be used to increase the life span of an individual.
