Noble laureate in Physiology/Medicine (1975) Prof. David Baltimore, from California Institute of Technology, California, USA, had reported in the July 8, 2014 issue of the Journal “Blood” that: “Dual mechanisms by which MiR-125b represses IRF4 to induce myeloid/B-cell leukemias.”

From Research findings to Therapeutic opportunity:

This study suggests that Grifolin, by increasing the expression of  its target gene, it may increase the expression of a number of tumor suppressor genes, including IRF4. Thereby, it could inhibit the progression of B-Cell and myeloid leukemias (figs. 1 and 2).

Taken together, this study suggests that pharmacological formulations encompassing       Grifolin or its analogues or Grifolin in combination with other anticancer drugs may be used to inhibit B-Cell and myeloid leukemias (fig. 3).
