Thereby, it may: 1) promote oligodendrocytes proliferation, 2) promote myelination of neurons, 3) revert neural damage, 4) confer protection against brain ischemia, 5) promote consolidation of hippocampal memory, 6) produce antidepressant like effects, 7) enhance glucose-stimulated insulin secretion, and 8) decrease stress hormones norepinephrine and epinephrine levels and thereby reduce blood pressure. And finally, as a consequence, prolong lifespan (figures 1-4).
