On the foundation of this interesting finding, Dr L Boominathan PhD, Director-cum-chief Scientist of GBMD, reports, for the first time, that: A sweet way to extend lifespan: Sugar-based Life-extension therapy: D-Allose, an aldohexose sugar, inhibits the expression of Ribosomal protein S6 kinase 1 (p70S6 Kinase) and extends mammalian life span by regulating the expression of its target genes
Research findings to Therapeutic opportunity:
This study suggests, for the first time, a sugar-based Life-extension therapy.
D-Allose, by regulating the expression of its target gene, it may suppress Ribosomal protein S6 kinase 1 (p70S6 Kinase) expression. Thereby, it may promote: (1) resistance to bone, immune, and motor dysfunction; (2) insulin sensitivity; and (3) longevity (fig. 1).
Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “D-Allose or its analogs, either alone or in combination with any of the known longevity-promoting compound(s),” may be used to extend the lifespan of an individual (fig. 2).
