A study from the Institute of Healthy Ageing, Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology, Department of Medicine, University College London, London WC1E 6JJ, UK shows that “Ribosomal protein S6 kinase 1 signaling regulates mammalian life span.” This study was published, in the 2 October 2009 issue of the Journal “Science” (I.F: 31.477 ), by Prof Dominic J. Withers, Dr. Selman C and others.

Research findings to Therapeutic opportunity: 

17-DMAG(17-Dimethylaminoethylamino-17-demethoxygeldanamycin), by increasing  the expression of its target gene, it may suppress Ribosomal protein S6 kinase 1 (p70S6 Kinase) expression and regulate the expression of other longevity-promoting genes (fig.1). Thereby, it may promote: (1) resistance to bone, immune, and motor dysfunction; (2) insulin sensitivity; and (3) longevity (fig. 1).
