From research findings to Therapeutic Opportunity: 

This study suggests, for the first time, that seasame seeds or oil-derived compound sesamin may extend lifespan of humans. 

 Sesamin, by regulating the expression of its target gene, it may suppress Ribosomal protein S6 kinase 1 (p70S6 Kinase) expression. Thereby, it may promote: (1) resistance to bone, immune, and motor dysfunction; (2) insulin sensitivity; and (3) longevity(fig. 1).
