From research findings to Therapeutic Opportunity: 

This study suggests, for the first time, with detailed mechanistic insights, Pepper nigrum, commonly known as black pepper, may extend lifespan of humans.   Piperine, by regulating the expression of its target gene, it may suppress Ribosomal protein S6 kinase 1 (p70S6 Kinase) expression. Thereby, it may promote: (1) resistance to bone, immune, and motor dysfunction; (2) insulin sensitivity; and (3) longevity(fig. 1).
