CitationBoominathan, Natural product-based anticancer therapy: Curcumin, the major component of turmeric, suppresses the expression of RNA polymerase I via down regulation of its target gene, 24/February/2015, 19.01, Genome-2-Bio-Medicine Discovery center (GBMD), http://genomediscovery.org

Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that Curcumin, by increasing the expression of  its target gene, it may decrease the expression of RNA polymerase I. Thereby, it may inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “Curcumin or its analogues”  can be used to inhibit the progression of human cancers.
