Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that AICAR, by decreasing the expression of its target gene, it may increase the expression of Sirtuin-1. Thereby, it may extend the lifespan of an individual. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “AICAR or its analogues“ may be used to extend the life-span of an an individual.
