Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that MiRNA-451, by decreasing the expression of its target gene, it may increase insulin-secreting cell mass and functionThereby, it may increase the insulin sensitivity of cellular tissues.  Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “MiRNA-451 activators”  can be used to treat DM.

Undisclosed information: How MiRNA-451 increases insulin-secreting cell mass and function.
