Significance: This study suggests that, Paracetamol (4-Hydroxyacetanilide), by increasing the expression of its target gene, it may decrease the expression of Nocturnin, and thereby promote weight loss.  Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing Paracetamol (4-Hydroxyacetanilide) or its analogues (free of side effects)  in non-lethal doses may be used to promote weight loss.
