Undisclosed information: A mechanistic insight into how Germinated brown rice (GBR) increases the expression of p73
Significance: The result presented here suggests that Germinated brown rice (GBR), by decreasing the expression of its target gene, it may increase the expression of p53 homologue p73. Given that (1) tumor suppressor p53 pathway is disrupted in more than 90% of different human cancers; and (2) p73 is not frequently mutated in human cancer, this study suggests, for the first time, a therapeutic strategy as to how mutant p53 expressing human metastatic cancers can be cured by activating its homologous protein p73. Thus, Physicians/Clinicians/Health care practitioners may consider encouraging their Cancer patients to consume Germinated brown rice instead of white rice.
