Noble laureates in Medicine (1998), Profs. Drs Ferid M (The University of Texas, Houston, Texas, USA) and Ignarro LJ (Tulane University School of Medicine and UCLA School of Medicine) have reported the role of  a gaseous signalling molecule Nitric oxide (NO) in a number of research papers. In connection with their finding, Dr L Boominathan, Director-cum-chief scientist of GBMD, reports that:  Regulation of cellular metabolism: Nitric oxide (NO) regulates the expression of Ribosomal protein S6 kinase polypeptide 2 (RPS6KB2) through its target gene, 9/April/2014, 15.00. This study provides mechanistic insights into how nitric oxide plays a central role in the regulation of cellular metabolism, caloric restriction etc.
