A study from University of Bordeaux, France has reported that “miR-92a regulates expression of synaptic GluA1-containing AMPA receptors during homeostatic scaling.”

This study was published in the July 13, 2014 Nature Neuroscience [I.F >15] by Prof. Favereaux A, Letellier M and others from University of Bordeaux, France.

On the foundation of this interesting finding, Dr L Boominathan, Director-cum-chief Scientist of GBMD, reports here that: Epigallocatechin 3-Gallate (EGCG), the major component of green tea, increases the expression of excitatory neurotransmitter Glutamate receptor-1 (GluA1/Gria1) via down regulation of its target gene This study may suggest that Epigallocatechin 3-Gallate, by down regulating its target gene, it may increase excitatory neurotransmitter responses.
