Significance: This study suggests that ACTH, by down regulating the expression of its target gene, it may increase the levels of HbF. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “ACTH activator” may be used to treat: (1) Sickle cell disease ; (2) β-thalassemias; and (3) disease conditions that has lower levels of HbF.
