Significance:  Prolonged physical/mental/emotional/environmental stress can induce the expression of a number of stress-responsive proteins.   This study suggests, for the first time, that  the stem cell protein Oct-4, by decreasing the expression of a number of stress responsive genes, it may increase the expression of an activator of insulin transcription, NeuroD1.  This data suggests that “Oct-4 activators” may be used to treat stress-induced T2D.
