A recent study from the Mammalian Genetics Laboratory, Cancer Research UK London Research Institute, Lincoln’s Inn Fields Laboratories, London, United Kingdom; and School of Medicine, King’s College London, London, United Kingdom shows that “Loss of Fbw7 Reprograms Adult Pancreatic Ductal Cells into α, δ, and β Cells.” This study was published in the August 7  2014 Cell Stem Cell by Prof Axel Behrens, Rocio Sancho, and others.

On the foundation of this interesting finding, Dr L Boominathan PhD, Director-cum-chief Scientist of GBMD, reports that: Massage-based regenerative therapy for T2D: Massage promotes  reprogramming of adult pancreatic ductal cells into α, δ, and β cells via up regulation of Ngn3 in adult pancreatic ductal cells.   Thereby, it may increase insulin secretion, promote insulin sensitivity and inhibit insulin resistance. Given the mechanistic details of massage therapy, Physicians may consider recommending massage therapy to T2D patients, as it may regenerate  β cells. To the best of knowledge, this is the first study that suggests, with a scientific evidence, that massage therapy may promote regeneration of stem cells.
