Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that massage (moderate pressure–pressure receptor-mechanotransduction), by increasing the expression of its target gene, it may attenuate inflammatory signalling and increase the expression of longevity-promoting gene Sirtuin-1. Given this, Physicians may consider recommending massage therapy for patients suffering from various ailments.
