Citation: Boominathan, Massage therapy prevents the development of Stress-induced T2D: Massage increases the expression of a positive regulator of insulin transcription, NeuroD1 via up regulation of its target gene, 27/January/2015, 07.53 am, Genome-2-Bio-Medicine Discovery center (GBMD), http://genomediscovery.org
Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that massage (moderate pressure–pressure receptor-mechanotransduction), by decreasing the expression of its target gene, it may: (1) increase the expression of a positive regulator of insulin transcription, NeuroD1; (2) increase insulin sensitivity of tissues and (3) prevent the development of Stress-induced T2D. Given this, physicians may consider encouraging their T2D patients to undergo massage therapy.
