Significance: This study suggests that TAp63, by increasing the expression of its target gene, it could increase the number of beating cardiomyocyte-like cells (iCMs). Taken together, this study suggests that (1) pharmacological formulations containing “TAp63 or its activator” can be used to increase the number of beating cardiomyocyte-like cells (iCMs); and (2) TAp63 activators can be used to promote cardiac repair.

Undisclosed information: A detailed mechanistic insight into how p63 increases the number of beating cardiomyocyte-like cells.
