Citation: Boominathan, Mechanistic insight into ageing: Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) increase the expression of tumor suppressor p53 and ageing features via down regulation of their target gene, 9/June/2015, 9.15 pm, Genome-2-Bio-Medicine Discovery center (GBMD), http://genomediscovery.org
Significance: It has been shown earlier that Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) increase the generation of reactive oxygen species and promote ageing. This study suggests, for the first time, that Advanced glycation end products (AGEs), by decreasing the expression of their target gene, they may increase the expression of tumor suppressor protein p53. Thereby, it may promote ageing. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “Advanced glycation end product inhibitors” can be used to decrease ageing and increase the life-span of an individual.
