Citation: Boominathan, Mechanistic insight into Regulation of Ribosome biogenesis: Tumor suppressor BMP4 (Bone Morphogenetic protein-4) suppresses the expression of RNA polymerase I via down regulation of its target gene, 21/February/2015, 21.29 am, Genome-2-Bio-Medicine Discovery center (GBMD), http://genomediscovery.org
Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that tumor suppressor BMP4, by increasing the expression of its target gene, it may decrease the expression of RNA polymerase I. Thereby, it may inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “BMP4 activators” can be used to inhibit the progression of human cancers.
