A study from Division of Cellular and Developmental Biology, MCB Department, University of California at Berkeley, Berkeley, California, USA has reported that “miR-34/449 miRNAs are required for motile ciliogenesis by..”

This study was published in the 04 June 2014 Nature (IF: 38.597by Prof. Lin He, Song Rui and others from Division of Cellular and Developmental Biology, MCB Department, University of California at Berkeley, Berkeley, California, USA.

On the foundation of this interesting finding, Dr L Boominathan, Director-cum-chief Scientist of GBMD, reports here that: Mechanistic & Therapeutic insights into Motile Ciliogenesis & Respiratory dysfunction (Primary cilia dyskinesia): p33 (ING1b) increases Cilia length and number via up regulation of its target gene. This study suggests that ING1b, by increasing the expression of its target gene, it could alleviate the respiratory dysfunction found in Primary cilia dyskinesia.  Together, this study suggests that pharmacological formulations containing “ING1b inducers” can be used to treat Primary cilia dyskinesia
