Significance: It has been shown earlier that transgenic expression of telomerase increases the longevity of mice. This study suggests, for the first time, that L1CAM, by decreasing the expression of its target gene, it may increase the expression of immortality gene telomerase. Thereby, it may increase the life-span of an individual. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “L1CAM  activators”  can be used to decrease ageing and increase the life-span of an individual.
