Significance: It has been shown earlier that transgenic expression of telomerase increases the longevity of mice. This study suggests, for the first time, that MiRNA-181c, by decreasing the expression of its target gene, it may increase the expression of immortality gene telomerase. Thereby, it may increase the life-span of an individual. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “MiRNA-181c  activators”  can be used to decrease ageing and increase the life-span of an individual.
