CitationBoominathan, MiRNA-based Regenerative therapy for DM: p63-miR-130 pathway increases insulin-secreting cell mass and function via down regulation of its target genes, 14/February/2015, 11.23 am, Genome-2-Bio-Medicine Discovery center (GBMD), http://genomediscovery.org

Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that p53, by increasing the expression of its target gene miRNA-130, it may increase insulin-secreting cell mass and functionThereby, it may increase the insulin sensitivity of cellular tissues.  Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “p63/MiRNA-130 activators”  can be used to treat DM.
