Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that MiRNA-29b, by suppressing the expression of its target gene, it may inhibit acute lung injury. Thereby, it may inhibit the progression of acute respiratory distress syndrome.  Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “MiRNA-29b or its activators”  may be used to inhibit the progression of acute respiratory distress syndrome.
