Citation: Boominathan, MiRNA-based therapy for cancer: MiRNA-100 suppresses the expression of RNA polymerase I via down regulation of its target gene, 27/February/2015, 23.36, Genome-2-Bio-Medicine Discovery center (GBMD), http://genomediscovery.org
Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that MiRNA-100, by increasing the expression of its target gene, it may decrease the expression of RNA polymerase I. Thereby, it may inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “MiRNA-100 activators” can be used to inhibit the progression of human cancers.
