Idea Proposed/Formulated by: Dr L Boominathan Ph.D.
Significance: Cancer suppressor p53 is mutated in more than 50% of different human cancers. This study suggests, for the first time, that MiRNA-1, by suppressing the expression of its target gene, it may increase the expression of p53. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “MiRNA-1 activators” can be used to inhibit the progression of human tumors.
