Significance: This study suggests that E2F1 extends lifespan by (1) suppressing the expression of ADCY5; and (2) increasing the expression of longevity-associated genes such as telomerase and Siruin-1.  Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “E2F1 activator” may be used to (1) inhibit ageing process; (2) and extend lifespan.
