Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that MiRNA-125b, by decreasing the expression of its target gene, it may inhibit ageing-associated cognitive decline and neurodegeneration. Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “miR-125 activators”  may be used to inhibit ageing-associated cognitive decline and neurodegeneration.
