Significance: This study suggests, for the first time, that MiRNA-183, by suppressing the expression of its target gene, it may decrease the expression of Low density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 6 and promote weight loss.  Thus, pharmacological formulations encompassing “MiRNA-183 activators  may be used to promote weight loss.
